Charles Henry Colton (born October 15, 1848 in New York City , USA , † May 9, 1915 in Buffalo ) was Bishop of Buffalo .

Life

Charles Henry Colton attended St. Francis Xavier College in New York City. Colton studied Catholic theology and philosophy at St. Joseph's Seminary in Troy . He received on 10 June 1876, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Colton became a curate at St. Stephen's Church and also a chaplain at Bellevue Hospital . In 1896 he became pastor of Our Lady of Mercy parish in Port Chester and also Chancellor of the Archdiocese of New York .

On May 20, 1903, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Buffalo. The Archbishop of New York, John Murphy Farley , ordained him episcopal on August 24 of the same year at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Rochester , Bernard Joseph John McQuaid , and the Bishop of Brooklyn , Charles Edward McDonnell .
