James Edward Quigley (born October 15, 1854 in Oshawa , Ontario , Canada , † July 10, 1915 in Chicago , USA ) was Archbishop of Chicago .

Life

James Edward Quigley received on 13 April 1879, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 12, 1896, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Buffalo . The Archbishop of New York , Michael Augustine Corrigan , donated him episcopal ordination on February 24, 1897 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Rochester , Bernard Joseph John McQuaid , and the Bishop of Brooklyn , Charles Edward McDonnell .

On January 8, 1903 Leo XIII appointed him. to the Archbishop of Chicago. The inauguration took place on March 10 of the same year.

A year after his death, the Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary was named after Quigley's newly founded Theological Preparatory Seminary of the Archdiocese of Chicago .
