Kruma ( Albanian also Krumë ) is the capital of the municipality of Has in northern Albania . The population of the former municipality of Kruma was 6006 (2011). Half of the inhabitants of the old parish lived in the town of Kruma, while the rest were distributed among the villages of Çahan, Gajrep, Fshat Kruma, Mujaj, Plani Patës and Zahrisht; Today, perhaps a quarter of the population of Has municipality live in Kruma.
Kruma lies at around 430 m above sea level. A. on the northwest slope of Bjeshka e Krumës , which rises steeply right at the edge of the village and in the Maja e Gjytezës a few kilometers south of Kruma an altitude of 1435 m above sea level. Right on the outskirts of the mountain rises a water-rich spring that supplies the place with fresh water and from which the Kruma River rises, which flows a few kilometers further west into the Fierza reservoir (approx. 295 m above sea level ).
Kruma is connected by a paved road with Kukës, 30 kilometers to the south, and Bajram Curr in the north. The Qafa e Prushit border crossing, which was opened after the war in Kosovo , connects the place with Gjakova in Kosovo , whose catchment area included the entire Has highlands up to the Second World War . In Kruma there is a hospital, a primary and a middle school.
In the area around Kruma, there was brisk mining, especially copper mining, going on until the collapse of the communist regime in Albania . After the fall of the Wall in 1990, the mining operations could no longer be continued because they were uneconomical and out of date. As a result of the resulting job losses, there was a rural exodus - by the year 2000 around a third to not quite half of the population had left the district of Has.
