The less than 4 km long Krumbächlein is the upper reaches of the Kleine Vils , which emerges from it through a simple name change on the border of the districts of Erding and Landshut .

The Krumbachlein arises at about 491 m above sea level. NHN near Weiler Am See in the municipality of Steinkirchen in the district of Erding on the border with the municipality of Hohenpolding , the area of which it then traverses north to below the hamlet of Krumbach, where it reaches the Kirchberg area after about two kilometers . On the border, the noticeably longer and more catchment-rich Froschbach runs from the left and the roughly equivalent Diematinger Graben from the right . Nonetheless, under the name Krumbächlein, the water flows almost two kilometers northwards through the area from Kirchberg to the parish village of Burgharting , where the water crosses the border into the Landshut district and the municipality of Buch am Erlbach . From there on, without experiencing any significant influx at the point, it is now called Kleine Vils .
The hamlet of Krumbach in the municipality of Hohenpolding is named after the approximately 3.7 km long stream .
