Krysty Wilson-Cairns

Krysty Wilson-Cairns (born May 1987 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is a British screenwriter .

Life

At the age of 15, Wilson-Cairns gained her first experience in the film industry through her father on the set of the Scottish television series Taggart , which sparked her interest in filmmaking.

She later studied screenwriting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and received her Masters in the same subject from the National Film and Television School . She was later screenwriter-in-residence at the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

In 2012 she made her first short films based on her scripts. In 2014, she sold her draft for the science fiction thriller Aether to FilmNation . In 2016 she wrote the scripts for two episodes for the television series Penny Dreadful and was involved in nine others as staff writer. Together with Sam Mendes she wrote the screenplay for the 1917 war film , which Mendes directed. This work earned both of them a nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the 2020 Academy Awards .

She wrote the script for the horror thriller Last Night in Soho with Edgar Wright .

On May 4, 2020 was Lucasfilm announced that Wilson-Cairns with Taika Waititi a new Star Wars - will write the film.
