Last Night in Soho is an Edgar Wright horror thriller set to hit theaters in April 2021. Much of the film is set in London in the Swinging Sixties, to which the protagonist travels time.

action

A young woman is passionate about fashion design. Under mysterious circumstances, she travels back in time to the 1960s, where she meets her idol, a dazzling would-be singer. But London during the Swinging Sixties is not what it seems.

production

Directed by Edgar Wright , who also wrote the script with Krysty Wilson-Cairns . At the beginning of February 2019 he announced details of the plot of the film, so that it is a "psychological horror" that is partly set in London during the " Swinging Sixties ". This term refers to both a cultural as political and fashionable trend or the zeitgeist of society from the mid- 1960 's. Most closely associated with the term Swinging Sixties is London's Carnaby Street in the north of Soho, which became famous in the 1960s for its countless fashion and music stores and was considered a "trend mile" in Western Europe. The horror thriller should also be based on films such as When the gondolas carry grief and disgust .

The role of Eloise, one of the leading roles, was cast with Thomasin McKenzie , who was best known for her roles in Leave No Trace and Jojo Rabbit . Anya Taylor-Joy , Matt Smith, Diana Rigg , Terence Stamp , Rita Tushingham and Jessie Mei Li can also be seen in other roles .

The shooting took place from May to August 2019 in London, in the eponymous Soho , a district in London's West End. Chung Chung-hoon acted as cameraman

The film was originally due to hit cinemas in the UK on September 18, 2020, in German theaters on September 24, 2020, and in US theaters the following day. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic , however, the US launch date was postponed to April 23, 2021. A theatrical release in Germany is planned for April 29, 2021.
