action

In Moscow at the beginning of the 21st century, the world-famous cellist Vladimir Tschischow ("Uncle Vova") meets a teenager on his way home. He introduces himself as Tschischow's nephew Tolik from Nizhnie Yamki, the son of his cousin Elena Zarapkina. He came to Moscow to become a DJ there and to live with Chischow for a while. He thinks Tolik is a fraud and tries to get rid of him. At that moment, a barefoot man with a daisy wreath on his head and a remote control runs up to the two of them and asks what number their galaxy has so that he can come home. Tolik thinks he is a junkie and calls 03. Finally he presses "03" on the device and suddenly Tschischow and Tolik are alone in a desert under two suns. You landed on the planet Pljuk in the galaxy Kin-dza-dza.

Here the two meet traveling artists - the Chatlan Uef and the Patzaken Bi as well as the robot Abradoks, who travel in an aircraft. The inhabitants of the planet have telepathic skills and learn to speak Russian very quickly. The two learn that there are two main castes on Pljuk - the serving patzaks and the ruling chatlans. Affiliation is determined by a device, the visator. According to the visor, Uncle Vova and Tolik are patzaks and the law requires them to wear a special bell on their noses and to perform the Ku! Ritual when they meet chatlanes. The most valuable on Pljuk is KC, which contains sulfur, like ordinary matches . Fortunately, Chizhov has a whole box of matches.

Uef and Bi promise the Earthlings that if they give them a couple of boxes of matches they will bring them home to earth. But this requires special equipment: a Gravizapa. When the four try to buy one from smugglers, they are betrayed by them. Tolik, who still has a match, convinces the artists to take them to the capital of Pljuk to get a Gravizapa there and to be able to implement their plan. In the capital's planetarium you can find out the coordinates of the earth. In addition, Tolik can call his mother from here and prove to Chizhov that he really is his nephew.

After a series of adventures in which Tolik is given a Gravizapa, he and Tschischow take off on space flight together with Uef, Bi and Abradoks. However, the artists do not transport Tschischow and Tolik to earth, but to the uninhabited planet Chanud, where the oxygen content is only 30% of normal. The artists explain to the Earthlings that the earth is in an "antithesis" according to its coordinates and is inaccessible. As an alternative, the artists propose to earn money with performances in order to buy the planet Chanud and Air and to exercise despotic rule over future immigrants. With the prospect of never being able to return to earth, the Earthlings think of suicide. Then the barefoot man with the daisy wreath appears and sends Chischow and Tolik back to earth.

But both have now forgotten their adventures and Tschischow tries again to get rid of Tolik. But when suddenly a construction machine with an orange flashing light drives by, both unconsciously do the Ku! Ritual and remember their adventures. Tschischow enables Tolik and his mother to live with him at home.
