Kublai Khan is a four-piece hardcore punk / beatdown band from Abilene , Texas, founded in 2009 .

Kublai Khan was founded in Abilene , Texas in the summer of 2009 . Currently the band consists of vocalist Matt Honeycutt, guitarist Nolan Ashley, bassist Eric English and drummer Isaac Lamb.

In January 2011 the EP Youth War was released with eight songs, which was financed out of pocket. This was sold more than 1,200 times. On February 17, 2014, the group announced that they had signed a recording deal with Artery Recordings . At the end of April of the same year, the quartet's debut album, Balancing Survival & Happiness, was released by the record company.

Since inception, the group has toured North America several times , including for Emmure , The Acacia Strain , Fit for a King , Gideon , Silent Planet and Texas in July . In April and May 2015 Kublai Khan toured as the opening act for Obey the Brave in Europe and was also on several levels of Impericon festivals to see.

Kublai Khan's music is described as a mixture of “angry hardcore with elements from beatdown , thrash metal and metalcore ”.
