The Kuckstein is a mountain of the Ennert that roofs the Siebengebirge to the north . It is east of the right bank of the Rhine in Bonn hamlet Oberkassel and north of about Koenigswinter belonging Römlinghovens . Its height is 190 m above sea level .
Directly to the northwest is the Rabenlay , part of which the Kuckstein is often considered, and to the east is the Paffelsberg a little further away .
Basalt was mined on the Rabenlay and the Kuckstein until 1930 , as can be seen today on the striking rock faces. The double grave of Oberkassel was discovered at the Stingenberg quarry in Kuckstein in 1914 . Like its neighbor, the Kuckstein is a popular vantage point for Bonn and the Rhine Valley.
The block heaps below the Kuckstein are a highly specialized biotope . a threatened Zippammer breeds and smooth snake , grass snake , slow worm , fence and wall lizard lives a diverse reptile fauna.
