Kudlov (German Kudlow ) is a district of Zlín in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers southeast of the city center of Zlín and belongs to the Okres Zlín . The Zlín film studios located here became famous.

geography

Kudlov extends Bergland Vizovice right side above the valley of the creek Kudlovský Potok up to the hill Záhumenní. In the place rises the Kudlovský potok, east of Jaroslavický potok and southeast of the Březnice . The Díly (437 m) rises to the north, the Záhumenní (462 m) to the southeast, the Tlustá hora (458 m) to the west and the Barabaš (410 m) to the northwest. One and a half kilometers west of the village is the Zlín forest cemetery .

Neighboring towns are Zlín in the north, Jaroslavice in the northeast, Strže and Vavrušky in the east, Jaroslavické Paseky, Láze and Paseky in the southeast, Filíkovy Paseky in the south, Březnice and Záhutí in the southwest and Fabiánka and Malenovice in the west.

history

Kudlow was established between 1550 and 1570 as a settlement of Pasekars. The first written mention of the village belonging to the Zlín rule was made in 1571 in the Olomouc map . In 1589 Burian and Friedrich Tettauer von Tettau owned the place. During the Thirty Years War, the residents of Kudlow took part in the Wallachian Uprising from 1620. In 1627, under the leadership of Mikuláš Vrla, a delegation from the village presented to the Viennese court, where they were arrested. After the uprising was put down, Václav Kotvica from Kudlov was among those executed. Until the middle of the 19th century Kudlov always remained submissive to Zlín.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Kudlov / Kudlow 1850 a municipality in the district administration Holešov . The residents lived from agriculture, which was not very productive because of the stony soil. In 1890 a vessel with 217 silver groschen was found in the locality of Skalka, which was probably buried during the Thirty Years' War .

In 1901 583 people lived in the 106 houses of Kudlov. In 1906 eleven residents emigrated to America. In 1930 Kudlov had 913 inhabitants. In 1935 the municipality was assigned to the newly established Zlín District. In October 1935, the Filmové ateliéry Baťa was established west of Kudlov , which initially served as a small film studio to produce advertising films for the Baťa group . In addition to the film studio, the company had the Fabiánka residential colony built for FAB employees. In 1937 the number of residents had risen to 1,051. On May 20, 1938, Kudlov was incorporated into Zlín for the first time. During the German occupation , the incorporation was lifted again, after the end of the war Kudlov came again as a district to Zlín. On May 17, 1954, Kudlov became an independent place again. In the 1950s and 1970s, next to the Fabiánka colony, the new Švermova residential area, which is now called Filmové ateliéry , was built. On June 14, 1964, Kudlov was again incorporated into the town of Gottwaldov , which has been renamed Zlín since 1990. In 1991 Kudlov had 1,357 inhabitants. In the 2001 census, 1,476 people lived in the 407 houses in the village.
