Vogelmann art gallery in Heilbronn

The Vogelmann art gallery is a municipal exhibition hall in Heilbronn . The Kunsthalle an der Allee was built in 2009/2010 as an extension of the city's concert and congress center Harmonie .

history

The art gallery was built between 2009 and 2010 according to plans by the Zurich architects Mohl and Rodriguez, who had planned the modernization of the old Harmonie building between 1999 and 2001 . The three-story art gallery was added to the north of the building complex. The construction costs amounted to around EUR 5.6 million. The Kunsthalle was named after the Ernst Franz Vogelmann Foundation , which contributed to the construction costs with a donation of 1 million euros. The state of Baden-Württemberg gave a redevelopment grant of 1.75 million euros, the city's share of the costs was around 2.9 million euros.

The art gallery is operated by the Heilbronner Kunstverein and the Heilbronn Municipal Museums and has a total of around 800 square meters of exhibition space. On the ground floor there are 480 square meters of exhibition space, all offices on a mezzanine and around 330 square meters of exhibition space on the two floors above.

The Kunsthalle was opened on October 2nd, 2010 with the exhibition “Beuys for everyone! Edition objects and multiples ”, which showed around eighty multiples by Joseph Beuys from the collection of the Ernst Franz Vogelmann Foundation , which it acquired in 2007 on permanent loan to the city of Heilbronn. The award of the Ernst Franz Vogelmann Prize for contemporary sculpture every three years - jointly by the Ernst Franz Vogelmann Foundation and the Heilbronn City Museum - is associated with a solo exhibition in the Vogelmann art gallery the following year.
