The Kupferrote Lackporling ( Ganoderma pfeifferi ) is a type of mushroom from the family of the Lackporlingsverwandten (Ganodermataceae).

features

The Kupferrote Lackporling is a console-shaped, often roof-tile-appearing mushroom (described by Kreisel as clumsy and blunt-edged) which can be 10–50 cm long, 7–20 cm wide and 5–10 cm thick. The upper side is colored red or purple-brown, the edge yellow-brown. The hat is covered in a pale yellow resin crust that melts in the flame of a match or lighter. The resin crust sometimes looks creased due to wrinkles and folds. The top can be covered with the cocoa-brown spore mass. The underside of the mushroom, covered with narrow, round pores, is light yellow. The Trama is chestnut brown (in contrast to the resinous Lackporling with light brown Trama) and tough cork-like. The fruiting bodies are perennial.

ecology

Kupferroter Lackporling (at the natural monument # 9 in Bad Schwartau )

The Kupferrote Lackporling is a saprobiont or weak parasite on old deciduous trees or stumps in which it causes a white rot . As hosts, the Kupferrote Lackporling prefers red beech and oak , as well as other deciduous trees (Kreisel names horse chestnut , pear tree and Prunus species). Obviously, the copper-red lacquer porling prefers locations near the groundwater.

distribution

According to Kreisel, the Kupferrote Lackporling is a subatlantic species; Western and Central European as well as Transcaucasian occurrences are documented. Very rare in Germany, but has already been found in various federal states. The species in Central Europe is potentially endangered by cutting down old park and avenue trees.

meaning

The copper-red lacquer porling is out of the question as an edible mushroom, as a wood pest it is insignificant.
