Kurt Abels

Kurt Abels (born November 27, 1928 in Düsseldorf ; † September 4, 2014 in Denzlingen ) was a German specialist in German .

Life

After graduating from high school, Abels studied German and history in Cologne and Freiburg im Breisgau and then worked as a teacher at North Rhine-Westphalian high schools from 1955 to 1969, including from 1957 to 1969 at the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck . During this time Abels received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1965 with a dissertation on Germanic tradition and contemporary history in Ambraser Wolf Dietrich . From 1971 until his retirement in 1993 Abels was professor for German language and literature and didactics of German teaching at the University of Education in Freiburg . He published numerous monographs and essays on language and literature didactics and the history of German teaching.
