Gregor Hövelmann

Gregor Hövelmann (born November 5, 1930 in Emmerich ; † April 26, 1986 in Geldern ) was a German teacher , historian and archivist .

Life

After graduating from high school in his hometown Emmerich, Hövelmann studied German language and literature and history in Münster and Freiburg im Breisgau, among others with Franz Petri, and in 1958 passed the first state examination for higher education . After his legal clerkship in Wesel and Krefeld , Hövelmann worked as a teacher at the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck from 1960 to 1969 . In 1969 he took up the post of district archivist for the district of Geldern ; after the amalgamation of the districts of Geldern and Kleve in 1975, Hövelmann was the district archivist of the (enlarged) district of Kleve until his death in 1986.

During his teaching activities and then primarily as a district archivist, Hövelmann published numerous essays and articles in addition to a few monographs and was also the editor or publisher of a number of books.
