Kurt Bardong (born January 5, 1908 in Kupferdreh near Essen ; † (missing) 1945 ) was a German classical philologist and medical historian .

Kurt Bardong studied Classical Philology at the University of Giessen and dealt early on with the writings of the Greek doctor Galen . The subject of his doctoral thesis was the treatise De causis procatarcticis ("On the preceding causes"), which is only preserved in a Latin translation from the 14th century. Bardong created an edition of the Latin text and translated it back into ancient Greek. On November 15, 1937 Bardong was at Rudolf Herzog Dr. phil. PhD . His dissertation was published in the same year as a supplement to the Corpus Medicorum Graecorum , on which Bardong continued to work as a freelancer in the following years. Next he took over the edition of the font περὶ δυσπνοίας , but without being able to finish it.

From 1934 he lived as a grammar school teacher (student trainee, later teacher) in Friedberg (Hesse) . He continued his scientific work and published essays and articles for Paulys Realenzyklopädie der Classical Antiquity (RE). He took part in the Second World War as a private . His trail is lost between Warka and Radom in Poland . On December 31, 1945, Bardong was pronounced dead.
