Kurt Bossler

Kurt Bossler (born July 10, 1911 in Duisburg , † April 13, 1976 in Heidelberg ) was a German composer .

Life

Bossler spent his childhood and early adult years in his hometown Duisburg. It was only after several years of administrative activity that he was finally able to fulfill his actual wish and begin studying music. He completed this in 1940 in Düsseldorf with the state examination as a teacher of composition and composition "with distinction" . After a short activity as an organist and teacher in his hometown and a stopover from 1941 to 1943 as a music teacher and organist in Bad Rappenau (Baden-Württemberg), he was appointed to the Freiburg ( Breisgau ) Municipal Music School in 1943 as a teacher of composition and music .

After its closure in 1945, Bossler continued to work in Freiburg as a composer, organist and freelance music teacher. In 1962 he finally accepted a call to the Protestant Church Music Institute in Heidelberg as a full-time lecturer for composition as the successor to Heinz Werner Zimmermann , who moved to the Spandau Church Music School as director . Bossler taught in Heidelberg until his death in 1976.

Works

Especially after 1945, Bossler's works were increasingly performed in concert halls and churches at home and abroad, and his work was documented on records and in radio recordings. His oeuvre includes orchestral works, chamber music in a wide variety of settings, works for organ as well as choral and church music .
