Kurt Delkeskamp (born May 17, 1902 in Bersenbrück , † June 6, 1988 in Bad Abbach ) was a German librarian and entomologist .

Life

Delkeskamp was the son of the Berlin district court director Carl Delkeskamp and his wife Antonie, geb. Baring. He passed his Abitur at the Joachim-Friedrich-Gymnasium in 1921 and began after his first practical training in agriculture 1921-1924 in the Neumark then his studies of agricultural sciences in 1924 at the University of Göttingen , where he became a member of the Corps Hannovera . He completed his studies in Berlin in 1927 as a qualified farmer and received his doctorate there in 1930 with a dissertation on the grove beetle, first described by Otto Friedrich Müller in 1764 , to obtain a Dr. agr. Also in 1930 he first became a research assistant, then in 1942 custodian in the beetle department of the Zoological Museum of the Humboldt University , where he was the librarian of the museum library from 1955 to 1961. The construction of the Wall in 1961 led Delkeskamp, ​​who lives in West Berlin , to retirement at the museum in the eastern part of the city. Delkeskamp edited the list of soft beetles in Wilhelm Junks "Bibliographia Coleopterologica" (1912-1935) and continued it in 1977. He published numerous papers on his subject internationally. He spent his retirement in Kassel . He was married and had two daughters. Delkeskamp was buried in the family grave at the Engesohde city cemetery in Hanover .

Delkeskamp was treasurer from 1930 to 1939 and librarian from 1945 to 1961 of the German Entomological Society . His publications as a student historian and archivist of the Corps Hannovera Göttingen are in the Institute for University Studies in Würzburg.

The Canthariden genus Delkeskampia and numerous species were named after him.
