Kurt Frentzen

Emil Karl Kurt Frentzen (born May 22, 1892 in Berlin ; † October 29, 1945 in Salem -Mimmenhausen) was a German paleontologist and paleobotanist .

Frentzen received his doctorate in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1916 . He was conservator at the Baden State Collection for Natural History and professor at the Technical University in Karlsruhe .

Since his dissertation he has dealt with the flora of the red sandstone in Baden-Württemberg and also completed his habilitation in 1931 on the red sandstone in southern Germany and its paleoecology . He also dealt with the fauna of the Amaltheus layers ( Lias Delta, named after the eponymous key fossil , the ammonites of the genus Amaltheus ) and foraminifera of the Jura .
