Kurt Schmoller

Kurt Schmoller (born September 8, 1959 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian law scholar and professor at the University of Salzburg .

Life

Schmoller studied law at the University of Salzburg . There he was in 1981 aub auspiciis praesidentis Dr. iur. PhD. In the same year he became a university assistant at the Salzburg Institute for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Criminology. In 1985 he completed his habilitation there and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law and criminal procedure law. He then stayed at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg im Breisgau on a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . In 1987 Schmoller returned to Austria to hold a chair at the University of Innsbruck . In the same year he received the science award of the city of Salzburg. In the winter semester of 1988/89 and in the following summer semester, he held a chair at the University of Tübingen .

In 1992 Schmoller became a university professor at the University of Graz . As early as 1993, he switched to the chair for criminal law and criminal procedure law at the University of Salzburg , rejecting calls from the universities of Leipzig and Trier , which he has held since then. From 2004 to 2009 he was dean of the Salzburg law faculty. He has been a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2007 and a full member since 2010 .

Schmoller has been married since 1984 and has five children.
