Kurt Skalnik

Kurt Skalnik (born February 20, 1925 in Vienna , † February 8, 1997 in Vienna) was an Austrian journalist and section head .

Life

Kurt Skalnik was in the political resistance during his school days and graduated in 1943. He then did military service. After the war in 1945 he studied at the University of Vienna, where he was involved in building up the Austrian student body as deputy chairman of the central committee .

As a journalist he worked for the Akademische Rundschau . He was editor of Morgen magazine . In 1949 he became editor of the weekly newspaper Die Furche , from 1954 to the end of 1967 in the line as editor-in-chief .

In 1969 he became a press employee in the presidential office of the Federal President , from 1983 as Section Head until his retirement in 1990. He worked until 1974 under Federal President Franz Jonas , 1974 to 1986 under Rudolf Kirchschläger and 1986 to 1990 under Kurt Waldheim .

From 1974 to 1994, Skalnik was President of the Concordia Press Club .

Skalnik was buried in the Dobling cemetery .
