Kurt Wegner

Kurt Wegner (born August 27, 1908 in Cologne-Kalk , Germany; † September 16, 1985 in Järna , Sweden ) was a German artist. He works in Sweden from 1938.

Life

His parents were the photographer Frida Wegner (née Münkel) from Schwerte (Ruhr) and the engineer Ernst Wegner from Wolgast ( Pomerania ). Kurt Wegner studied with Richard Seewald at the Cologne factory schools in the 1920s .

Kurt Wegner was a member of the Nerother Wandervogel . He went on long hikes with his friends and began taking photos, drawing and painting.

1925 second trip to Italy.
in the spring of 1927 Wegner lived in Basel with the violinist Adolf Busch .
1927 first trip to Sweden to Dalarna .

1928-29 he worked in the Hunsrück .
1929–38 he worked in Düsseldorf and the Eifel .
In 1934 Wegner lived the whole summer in a Fäbod in Jämtland with his friend Heinz Zech.
In 1938 he married Britta Koraen, the daughter of the first ombudsman at Jernkontoret: C. Axel Koraen.
From 1938-46 Kurt lived in exile in a house (N 59 ° 9 '28.13 "E 17 ° 24' 26.62") in Wald near Nykvarn in Södermanland south of Stockholm . During these years Kurt and Britta have three daughters.
1946 move to the village of Järna in the same area.
1985 Kurt Wegner dies on September 16 . He is buried in the cemetery near Överjärna .
