Léon Aimé Taverdet FMC (born July 17, 1923 in Avanne , Doubs , France ; † August 8, 2013 in Brienon-sur-Armançon ) was Bishop of Langres .

Life

Léon Aimé Taverdet joined the Congregation of Frères Missionnaires des Campagnes in and received on 25 September 1955, the priestly ordination . He entered the priory of St. Dominic Pibrac (Haute-Garonne) and worked as a pastor in St. Germaine. In 1961 he became Prior General of the Order Frères Missionnaires des Campagnes . In 1973 he took over the priory of Saint-Jacques du Neubourg (Eure). In 1975 he became general secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the Rural World of the French Episcopal Conference.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Langres on October 14, 1981. The bishop of Saint-Die , Jean-Félix-Albert-Marie Vilnet , donated to him on 29 November 1981 in the Cathedral of Langres the episcopal ordination ; Co - consecrators were Jacques-Eugène-Louis Ménager , Archbishop of Reims , and Georges-Stanislas-Jean Béjot , Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Reims .

On December 16, 1999, John Paul II accepted his resignation due to reasons of age. He retired to the priory of Saint-Germain in Chichery-la-ville (Yonne), from 2008 to the priory of Saint-Robert de Molesme in Brienon-sur-Armançon .
