Léon Chambon
Léon-Toussaint-Jean-Clément Chambon OFMCap (born October 25, 1905 in Saint-Pierre-du-Champ , France , † October 9, 1987 ) was Bishop of Bossangoa .
Life
Léon Chambon joined the religious order of the Capuchin in and received on 20 August 1933, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On December 14, 1959, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the first Apostolic Prefect of Bossangoa. Chambon was due to the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture of Bossangoa for on January 16, 1964 the diocese first bishop of Bossangoa. The Archbishop of Cotonou , Bernardin Gantin , donated him episcopal ordination on May 1st of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Berbérati , Alphonse-Célestin-Basile Baud OFMCap, and the Bishop of Moundou , Samuel Gaumain, OFMCap.
On April 22, 1978, Chambon resigned as Bishop of Bossangoa.
Léon Chambon attended the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
