The Löhe campus includes several Protestant private schools in Neuendettelsau , which are sponsored by Diakoneo , consisting of the former Diakonie Neuendettelsau and the Protestant Diakoniewerk Schwäbisch Hall . The school center is divided into general and vocational schools.

history

In addition to the training of deaconesses , there was also a regular school for girls from the start, who were initially taught by teaching nurses in the motherhouse. As the number of female students increased continuously, this made it necessary to build a school building of their own. On September 1, 1903, the “Higher Daughter School” was inaugurated under the then rector Hermann Bezzel . Just one year after it opened, around 800 girls lived and learned there.

Under the dictatorship of the National Socialists , schools had to close completely in 1943. In 1946 school operations were resumed and expanded. Since the 1970s, male students have also been able to attend schools. In the course of the school's more than 100-year history, it has been rebuilt and expanded several times. Until 2009 the facility was called Laurentius School Center Neuendettelsau . Today the house bears the name of the theologian Wilhelm Löhe, who died in Neuendettelsau in 1872 .

A total of around 3,700 pupils visit the schools on the Löhe campus today.
