Robert Laupert (* in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German folk-pop musician and singer-songwriter who performs under the stage name L'aupaire .

history

Laupert lived for a while in Budapest where he wrote most of his first album Flowers . At the end of 2013 he began performing under his stage name L'aupaire. So far he has played at various festivals, including the South by Southwest Festival ( Austin , Texas ), the Sziget Festival and the Melt! , Appletree Garden and Dockville Festival . Shortly after the South by Southwest Festival, he met the American producer Mocky , who has already worked with well-known greats such as Leslie Feist , Peaches and Jamie Lidell . In 2016 L'aupaire was not only nominated for the New Music Award and was able to secure second place, but also played his first UK tour, which took him to London , Brighton and Bristol , among others .

In August 2019 his second album Reframing was released , which is about redesign and change of perspective. Laupert wrote all the songs himself and acted as co-producer. As on Flowers , he also worked on Reframing with various musicians, for example with the indie singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee from the Anglo-Swedish band Alberta Cross , the Irish singer Wallis Bird and the Norwegian guitarist Omár Gudjonsson. This time, L'aupaire designed the cover himself and also painted 500 mini canvases that were enclosed with the limited special edition of the vinyl. Furthermore, the vinyl includes a colored 10 inch with 5 cover songs.

Some of his songs can be heard in films and series. For example, he contributed several songs, including the theme song "Waterfall", for the film " Whatever Happens " with Fahri Yardım and Sylvia Hoeks , and the track "I Would Do It All Again" was used in the American series " iZombie ".

Influences

L'Aupaire's songs are heavily influenced by the blues, but pop and country influences can also be heard. His voice was widely discussed in the media. Some even compare them with great musicians like Bob Dylan , Tom Waits or Caleb Followill from the Kings of Leon .
