L'homme orchester ( German  Der Orchester-Mann ) is a French short film by Georges Méliès from 1900. The film was released in America under the title The One-Man Band .

A man sits down on a chair and divides his body into several people who together make up a musical group. The following instruments are used:

At the end of the concert he lets all copies of himself and the chairs disappear. It sinks into the ground and reappears behind a large fan.

Background information

What is remarkable about the film is that all of the roles are played by Georges Méliès himself. In order to depict the division of the musician into several people, Méliès worked with the trick technique of multiple exposure .

Buster Keaton made a remake of the short film The Play House in 1920 .
