In May 2001 the internet lottery game system started. In January 2002 the casino "Joker's Garden" opened in Potsdam.

Certifications

"With regard to the security of the gaming business, Lotto Brandenburg is certified according to ISO / IEC 27001, in particular for information security":

  • Certificate of the World Lottery Association (WLA) "WLA Security Control Standard 2012"
  • Certificate from TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH 2013

The company has summarized its focus and activities on “playing with responsibility” in the Responsible Gaming Framework. In May 2013 Lotto Brandenburg received certification according to the Responsible Gaming Standards of the European Lotteries. This was confirmed again in a re-certification audit in May 2019.

Promotion of the common good

The funds used by the players at LBL for games of chance and betting are, in addition to the distribution of winnings, largely returned to the general public through taxes and duties. Lotto Brandenburg generally pays 20 cents of every Euro LOTTO stake as a gaming tax to the State of Brandenburg. According to the Sports Promotion Act, the sports sector receives at least 19 million euros annually.

In 2019, the gaming tax was around EUR 37.4 million and the lottery tax was around EUR 32.9 million.

The promotion of projects and initiatives through the earmarked use of the so-called lottery funds is a pillar of the state treaty model oriented towards the common good, on which the organization of the “lottery” in the Federal Republic is based. On the other hand, Lotto Brandenburg, like other lottery companies, takes the initiative itself and invests in sustainable projects.

Lotto Brandenburg is involved in its own projects. These include the photography art prize and the award of “sports sympathy winners” for volunteer work in club sports. The LBL is supported by artists and cultural workers in Berlin / Brandenburg as well as by the Brandenburg State Sports Association.
