history

The former Royal Saxon Regional Court of Leipzig (1908)

With the law, the higher judicial authorities and the appeal in judicial matters concerning January 28, 1835, the Saxon higher and middle courts were reorganized. The newly formed Royal Higher Appeal Court of Dresden was at the head of the court . Several appellate courts were located among them. Their Sprengel described the implementing ordinance of March 28, 1835. The newly created appellate court of Leipzig was responsible for the Leipzig district including the Schönburg feudal lords of Penig , Rochsburg and Wechselburg , the Oschatz office and the Nossen office.

With the entry into force of the German Courts Constitution Act , the nationwide uniform court structure was implemented. The Dresden Higher Appeal Court was transformed into the Dresden Higher Regional Court with its seat in Dresden. It was responsible for the whole kingdom of Saxony. The appellate courts were dissolved. Instead, 7 regional courts, including the Leipzig regional court, were created. The building of today's Leipzig District Court was originally built for the Royal Saxon District Court in Leipzig.

In 1952, the regional courts in the GDR were abolished and the jurisdiction was reorganized through the establishment of district and district courts . The Leipzig District Court existed until 1992. On January 1, 1993, the Leipzig District Court was re-established. It emerged from the district court.
