LFI Group SpA (La Ferroviaria Italiana), based in Arezzo, is an Italian transport company. The most important subsidiary of the group of companies is Trasporto Ferroviario Toscano (TFT), a regional railway company.
background
Today's LFI Group was created in 2005 by splitting up into TFT ( railway company ) and the railway infrastructure company Rete Ferroviaria Toscana SpA (RFT), which is the operator and owner of two standard-gauge railway lines in central Italy . LFI also operates a number of bus routes (with around 150 buses).
In December 2002 the two shareholders, the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, sold 30% of the shares to a group of companies including RATP in Paris, ATAF Florence, TRAIN Siena. In view of the non-voting shares, the RATP has de facto control with around 30% of the votes.
Route network of the RFT
The lines operated by RFT run from Arezzo, where the railway company's depot is located, to Stia and Sinalunga . The route to Stia was built in 1888 and has a length of 44 km. The route to Sinalunga was built in 1930 and is 40 km long. Both lines are electrified with the usual voltage of 3000 V DC in Italy , both of which are now their wholly owned subsidiaries.
TFT railway operations
TFT operates passenger and freight traffic on two standard-gauge railway lines in central Italy . These lead from Arezzo, where the railway company's depot is located, to Stia and Sinalunga . The route to Stia was built in 1888 and has a length of 44 km. The route to Sinalunga was built in 1930 and is 40 km long. Both lines are electrified with the usual Italian voltage of 3000 V DC . In 2006, TFT carried a total of 1.18 million passengers on both routes.
Since March 14, 2001, the TFT has also been licensed as a public railway company for passenger and freight traffic on the network of the state infrastructure operator Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) and a safety certificate first issued on January 31, 2005 and last extended on November 22, 2007 for driving RFI routes between the corner points of Livorno , Pisa , Bologna and Chiusi . In 2008, 8172 train kilometers were operated on RFI routes in freight traffic.
Vehicle material
In 2013, an FS ATR 365 multiple unit intended for use in Sardinia was subjected to test drives on the route to Arezzo from February . The ATR365, which are similar to the RENFE series 599 , are to go into operation from December 2013 and shorten travel times in Sardinia. A multiple unit offers space for 200 passengers. The trains, which reach a top speed of 160 km / h, have a continuous output of 1080 kW and are equipped with active tilting technology.
