The Laan , also Leibeek (Dutch name) or Lasne (French name) or Lane ( Walloon name) is a 26 km long left tributary of the Dijle in Belgium .
It rises in Walloon Brabant at about 135 m above sea level near the national road 5 at a Passavant farm, about 2500 meters (as the crow flies) northwest of Glabais and 3.5 km north-northwest of the municipality of Genappe , but its core town is on the Dijle (French: Dyle ) lies.
In addition to the Lasne named after her, it flows through the municipality of Rixensart , as well as the districts of Tombeek and Terlanen of the municipality of Overijse in Flemish Brabant and the former municipality of Sint-Agatha-Rode , part of Huldenberg . This is where its confluence with the Dijle is located at around 40 m above sea level.
In Rixensart, the Lasne crosses the urban belt along the Brussels – Namur railway line . Otherwise, its valley is characterized by a hilly landscape.
Linguistic curiosity
In Belgium the Laan / Lasne joins the Dijle / Dyle, in Germany the Dill joins the Lahn.
