Labeo is a species of carp fish thatis rich in species and is found in tropical Africa and southern Asia.

features

Labeo species are 5.5 centimeters to two meters long. Their body is elongated and somewhat flattened on the sides, the size of the scales is variable. The sideline runs along the middle of the body or a little below. The mouth is underneath and can be extended (protractile). It can be surrounded by a pair of barbels or two, or it can be beardless. The lips are equipped with sharp edges and horn ridges on the inside and form a powerful suction organ. The pharynx are arranged in three rows. Labeo species, like all carp fish, lack jaw teeth . The only dorsal fin is supported in front by two to three undivided soft rays, followed by 10 to 15 divided ones. The longest fin ray is undivided.
