Labyrinth of Dreams ( Japanese ユ メ ノ 銀河 Yume no Ginga , Eng . "Milky Way of Dreams") is a Japanese film by Gakuryū Ishii from 1997 . It was first shown at the 1997 Toronto Film Festival .

The film is set in Japan in the 1930s. The young bus attendant Tomiko quickly falls in love with the bus driver Niitaka, with whom she works. She has to get off regularly in front of a tunnel and instruct the bus. When she learns that the former bus attendants, including her friend, have all died, she suspects Niitaka of being a mass murderer. Tomiko spins himself in a web of madness and reality and wants to avenge the death of his friend.
