The Lac de la Presqu'île ( French for "peninsula lake") is a ring-shaped lake in the Jamésie in the Canadian province of Québec .
The village of Chapais is 3 kilometers south of the lake . The 20 km² large lake almost completely encloses a peninsula of about the same size in its center. The Rivière Obatogamau river flows through the lake from east to west. The lake is drained via the other rivers Rivière Chibougamau and Rivière Waswanipi to Lac Matagami and the Rivière Nottaway .
The peninsula corresponds to a central mountain of an impact crater . The lake covers the depression created by the impact. The original crater diameter is estimated to be approximately 15 miles. The age of the impact crater is less than 500 million years and thus falls into the Cambrian or a later geological age.
