Ladislav Sikorcin ( Hungarian Sikorcin Ladislav ; Slovak Ladislav Sikorčin ; born October 14, 1985 in Ilava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak - Hungarian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Újpesti TE in the MOL league again since 2016 .

Career

Sikorcin was born as a member of the Hungarian minority in Ilava , Slovakia . He began his career as a hockey player in nearby Trenčín , where he played for HC Dukla . First used in the U20 team, he made his debut as an 18-year-old in the 2003/04 season, when the team from Northern Slovakia won their last championship so far, in the first team in the Extraliga .

As a 22-year-old, the striker went to MsHK in Žilina for a year . In 2008 he moved to Hungary and played there first for the Újpesti TE Budapest , which had its heyday with 13 national titles but already more than twenty years behind it, in the Hungarian-Romanian MOL league . During this time he received Hungarian citizenship in 2009. He then played for a year at the Romanian league competitor HSC Csíkszereda in Miercurea Ciuc , Transylvania , a stronghold of the Hungarian minority in Romania. With the HSC Csíkszereda he won the Romanian championship title in 2011.

After this success, the Hungarian top club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár , which is the only Hungarian team to compete in the Austrian ice hockey league , noticed him and signed him. After five years there, he returned to the Hungarian capital for Újpesti TE.

International

Sikorcin took part with the Hungarian team for the first time in Division I of the 2011 World Cup. At the World Championships in Division I in 2012 and 2013 , he was in the squad as well as in the Olympic qualification for 2014 . He was then called up several times for the Hungarian national team, but was no longer nominated for a major tournament.
