Łyna [ 'wɨna ] ( German Lahna ) is a village in Poland . It belongs to the municipality of Nidzica and is located 16 km north of the city of Nidzica ( German: Neidenburg ) near the source of the river Łyna ( Alle ). The place belongs to the powiat Nidzicki , Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

history

The first written mention of it dates back to March 12, 1387. Lahna has been the center of a parish of the same name since at least 1540 .

The place was part of the East Prussian district of Neidenburg until 1945 .

During the Battle of Tannenberg in August 1914, the place was fought over. The fallen were buried in the Lahna Cemetery of Honor .

Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Lahna belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Lahna, 247 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not receive any votes.

Lahna was occupied by Soviet troops on January 20, 1945 .

Parish

Until 1945 Lahna was a Protestant parish. This parish also included the places Allendorf, Commusin, Dietrichsdorf, Gutfeld, Glinken, Jablonken, Lykusen, Orlau, Radomin, Terten, Wolfsgarten and Wolka.
