The Łyna [ 'wɨna ], Russian Лава / Lawa ( German Alle , Prussian Alna or Lyne ), is a 264 km long river in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , Poland and Kaliningrad Oblast , Russia .
The Łyna flows over a length of 190 km through the Polish Masuria and Warmia ; She covers another 74 km as Lawa in the Kaliningrad Oblast. It is navigable over a distance of 54 kilometers.
The Łyna rises near the village of Łyna (Lahna) near Nidzica (Neidenburg) , flows through Olsztyn (Allenstein) , Dobre Miasto (Guttstadt) , Lidzbark Warmiński (Heilsberg) , Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) and Prawdinsk (Friedland in East Prussia) and flows into it near Snamensk (Wehlau) with an average water flow of 40.4 m³ / s in the Pregel, which is about the same size there .
The old Prussian name Alna goes back to the Indo-European root "el-l, ol-" (flow). Lyne is derived from linis ( tench ).
