The Vienna State Police Directorate has been the successor to the Vienna Federal Police Directorate and the Vienna Security Directorate, which was in office until August 31, 2012, due to major structural changes at the Austrian security authorities since September 1, 2012. The head of the authority and the seat of the authority remained unchanged.
Law and intentions
The changes were due to a by Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner introduced government bill the first faymann government as constitutional law (short title: BVG security agencies-restructuring in 2012, Federal Law Gazette I No. 49/2012..) By the National Council in April 2012 by a vote of SPÖ , ÖVP , FPÖ and BZÖ and by the Federal Council , where only the Greens voted against, in May 2012 and announced in the Federal Law Gazette on May 23, 2012.

14 police commissioners are set up as branches of the Vienna State Police Directorate, each of which is headed by a city governor (possibly a city governor). The 14 city police commanders with their police inspections are subordinate to these. Seven commissariats are each responsible for one Viennese district , five are responsible for two districts, and two commissariats are responsible for security administration for three districts.
tasks
In the LPD, the civil security agendas for Vienna are to be organized and coordinated under the authority of the Ministry of the Interior. The administrative police tasks (aliens police, weapons, ammunition, guns and explosives, press, club police, assembly matters) are carried out by the police lawyers of the LPD.
The LPD is attached to the executive service of the federal police guard , including the special unit WEGA .
The police vice-president of the business unit B is subject to the Unit Special Investigations (RBE) him, for example, is responsible for investigation against officials of the LPD, which are suspected of having committed intentionally court offenses, if they are not within the competence of the Federal Office for Prevention of Corruption and Anti-Corruption fall .
The LPD Vienna is also responsible for keeping the criminal records of the Republic of Austria (criminal records office).
