Berchtesgaden District Court

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district court Berchtesgaden was from 1811 to 1862 a royal Bavarian district court of the older order with seat in Berchtesgaden , which was responsible as a judicial and administrative authority for the Berchtesgadener Land , the southern district sub-region in today's district Berchtesgadener Land .

history

Former court judge's house , from 1828 seat of the regional court, from 1862 the district office and until 1972 the district office Berchtesgaden (Doktorberg 4)

After secularization in Bavaria , the prince-provostie Berchtesgaden and its own jurisdiction were dissolved in 1803 and their formerly independent, imperial principality Berchtesgadener Land experienced several changes of rule in quick succession until it was finally incorporated into the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810 . For the administration of the Berchtesgadener Land in 1811 in the course of the administrative reorganization of Bavaria, the district court Berchtesgaden was established as the Bavarian district court 2nd class .

The district court Berchtesgaden had its seat until 1828 in the old court rooms of the former prince provost's residence (today: Royal Castle Berchtesgaden ), only to be moved to the former court judge's house in Berchtesgaden .

Until 1817, the district court of Berchtesgaden belonged to the Salzach district , then to the Isar district , which was renamed the administrative district of Upper Bavaria from 1837 . Until 1862, the area of responsibility corresponded to the former principality of Berchtesgadener Land, which with its five present-day communities Berchtesgaden, Bischofswiesen , Marktschellenberg , Ramsau and Schönau am Königssee, forms the southern district sub-region within the Berchtesgadener Land district, which was newly created in 1972 .

In 1862 there was a separation of justice and administration in Bavaria, and the tasks of the regional courts were divided into the district office (administration) and the district court (justice). In the same year, the district office of Berchtesgaden and the district court of Berchtesgaden were formed through the merger of the older district courts Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden .
