The Hoppecke-Diemel-Bergland landscape protection area with 7,844 hectares is located in the south-eastern urban area of Brilon and in the western urban area of Marsberg . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . Parts of the LSG in the area of the floodplains of Diemel and Hoppecke have belonged to the FFH area Diemel and Hoppecke water system (DE 4617-302) with a size of 588 hectares since 2004 . Most of the LSG belongs to the Diemelsee Nature Park . Only some northern areas do not belong to the nature park.
description
The Hoppecke-Diemel-Bergland landscape protection area is a strongly reliefed landscape with altitudes between 500 and 800 m. The running waters are deeply cut into the landscape. In contrast, the area of the Fürstenberg Forest in the LSG is only slightly reliefed. The Hoppecke and Diemel flow in the area , with only parts of the Hoppecke belonging to the LSG, while the Diemel runs exclusively in the Upper Diemeltal nature reserve .
The entire LSG has a large proportion of forest. In addition to spruce, there is also a large proportion of beech forest in the area. In the LSG there are witnesses to the history of settlement and land use, such as remains of ore mines , ore railways, raft ditches and hydropower plants .
Protection purpose
The LSG Hoppecke - Diemel - Bergland has been designated as LSG Type A, General Landscape Protection. In the urban areas of Brilon and Marsberg there are other landscape protection areas of type A (general landscape protection) . Landscape protection areas of type B, outskirts, landscape character and landscape protection areas of type C (meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland) with different requirements were designated in the cities.
The LSG was designed to preserve the uniqueness and beauty of the landscape; To secure the efficiency of the ecosystem against interventions; to supplement the areas of the natural area that are more strictly protected by designation as a nature reserve as buffer areas.
Legal regulations
Initial afforestation and also the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are subject to official approval from the Lower Landscape Authority . As in the other type A landscape protection areas, the LSG prohibits building structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry, the public supply of electricity, gas, telecommunications services, heat and water, wastewater management or an existing adjacent commercial operation are excluded from the ban ( Section 35 (1) No. 1 and 2 of the Building Code ). The construction of wind turbines and hydropower plants is also permitted with a building permit.
