The Mandautal is a protected landscape area in Upper Lusatia in the Free State of Saxony . It is located on the districts of Seifhennersdorf , Spitzkunnersdorf , Großschönau , Hainewalde , Mittelherwigsdorf and Hörnitz and follows the course of the Mandau in one section .

history

The adoption of the Reich Nature Conservation Act in 1935 created the basis for the establishment of the nature reserves Roschertal and Spitzberg between Hainewalde and Scheibe , which are located in the area of ​​today's landscape protection area. These two areas also enjoyed special protection in the GDR, so in 1972 the Roschertal was placed under protection as an area natural monument , in 1982 the Scheiber Spitzberg was placed under protection.

After German reunification, both area natural monuments were combined to form the Scheibenberg and Roschertal nature reserves , which in turn merged with the Schülerbusch reserve in the LSG Mandautal in 2005 .
