The Scheiber Spitzberg , also Spitzberg for short, is a 407 meter high mountain in Eastern Upper Lusatia in the Free State of Saxony . It is located in the Mittelherwigsdorf district in the Görlitz district .

description

The Spitzberg is the northern foothill of the Scheibeberg . It rises to the right above the Roschertal formed by the Mandau , in the north opposite is the Butterberg (370 m above sea level). At the northeastern foot the Landwasser flows into the Mandau.

The Spitzberg is surrounded east by Scheibe , southwest by Gampenstein and Hainewalde and northwest by the Butterberg houses.

The summit of the Spitzberg consists of a species-rich semi-arid grassland. A deciduous forest stretches out on the northeast and eastern slopes of the summit. The only occurrence of the Grand Honorary Prize in the Zittau area is on Spitzberg. Due to the occurrence of rare plant species, the summit is protected as an area natural monument on an area of ​​2.5 hectares. The Scheiber Spitzberg is part of the FFH area "Mandautal" and the landscape protection area Mandautal .
