The Landsmannschaft Troglodytia is a student union at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . Her head office is on Bartelsallee in the Düsternbrook district of Kiel . The Landsmannschaft , officially founded in 1864, is the fourth oldest student union in Kiel and was the strongest union in the city in 1913, shortly before the outbreak of the First World War . It was the trigger for the Heyde-Sawade affair in 1958 . The Troglodytia conducts student fencing . Her motto is “Ne feriare feri - Be a hammer, not anvil!” Her best-known member was Peter Harry Carstensen . The future Prime Minister of the State of Schleswig-Holstein from 2005 to 2012 left the association in 1998.

history

Founding and earlier years

The first documented sources exist for the Troglodytia from 1837, the official establishment took place on December 14, 1864 in a cave-like pub, hence the name (Troglodytia = cave dwellers). After the Troglodytia was founded as a Black Association , it became colored in 1873 and finally joined the Coburg Landsmannschafter Convent , today's Coburg Convent .

Since 1903, the country team Troglodytia organized as annual highlight a grünkohlessen . During the time of National Socialism , the active business was closed in 1935, which was resumed after the Second World War in 1948/1949. At first, the members met in the cafeteria of the Seeburg student residence on Düsternbrooker Weg on the Kiel Fjord before they could move into the house on Bartelsallee.

Heyde-Sawade affair

In 1958 the Troglodytia country team played a decisive role in the unmasking of the psychiatrist and euthanasia doctor Werner Heyde, who had gone into hiding . When members of the Troglodytia country team loudly held their pubs in their headquarters in Kiel-Düsternbrook , the internist Prof. Helmuth Reinwein , internationally known at the time, complained in the neighboring house and went to court because of the nocturnal disturbances. The district court of Kiel then invited to an on-site meeting and instructed 20 trainee lawyers to hold a drinking bout without alcohol in the house on Bartelsallee so that experts could check the volume level. Because the sleep-depriving phoneme was above the tolerable level, the judge condemned the students of the Troglodytia Landsmannschaft "not to sing outside the house and with the windows open between 10pm and 6am, and certainly not to shout." the professor "against supposedly unjust treatment by the judiciary" and stopped teaching . On behalf of the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein, Kai-Uwe von Hassel , the head of the State Chancellery tried to persuade him to resume his lectures . But the angry Reinwein felt that the judiciary had continuously abandoned him because of his neighborhood dispute with the Troglodytia, and in October 1959 threatened the unmasking of an "Anonymous". He got the Heyde-Sawade affair rolling by making “ambiguous remarks” to the dean of the medical faculty about the sports doctor “Dr. Fritz Sawade ”. Werner Heyde was employed under this cover name at the marine sports school in Flensburg - Mürwik .

Memberships

Troglodytia is an academic country team member of the Coburg Convent of country teams and gymnastics associations at German universities (CC), whose presidium it held in 1963 and 2011/2012. It is also a member of the “ silver cartel ”, a very close association with the other country teams Neoborussia Halle zu Freiburg, Plavia-Arminia Leipzig, Thuringia Berlin, Verdensia Göttingen, Saxo-Suevia Erlangen and Hasso-Borussia Marburg. Friendship relationships exist with the Academic Landsmannschaft Viruna Graz and the Landsmannschaft Ghibellinia Tübingen.

Troglodytia is an obligatory , color-bearing compound. As Couleur the colors black, white and red are (from bottom read) supported, also a red cap and high official events of the summer term , a white silk striker. The examination principle applies to the members, according to which the remaining in the country team depends on the successful completion of the degree.
