The election for the 5th Hessian state parliament took place on November 11, 1962. The SPD achieved an absolute majority, but Prime Minister Zinn continued the coalition with the BHE , which after the merger with the DP now appeared as an all-German party and was represented in the state government by Gustav Hacker as Minister of Agriculture .
