Change of parliamentary group during the current legislative period

The MP Egmont Jenny left the parliamentary group of the South Tyrolean People's Party in 1966 and founded the parliamentary group of the Social Progressive Party of South Tyrol .

Historical meaning

The number of mandates in the South Tyrolean Parliament was expanded again in the run-up to the election - from originally 20 mandates (1948) and 22 mandates from 1952 to 25 mandates now. The three additional mandates went to the South Tyrolean People's Party (+1) and the Partito Liberale Italiano (1) and Tyrolean Home Party (1), which were represented in the state parliament for the first time . All other parties were able to keep their number of seats from 1960.

With Josef Raffeiner's entry into the Landtag for the Tyrolean Home Party in 1964, the South Tyrolean People's Party's sole right to represent the German and Ladin-speaking population of South Tyrol was broken for the first time. In 1966 the pluralization of the German-speaking voter spectrum continued after the former SVP mandate Egmont Jenny founded the one-man parliamentary group of the Social Progressive Party of South Tyrol (SFP).
