The long wall (formerly: high wall ) is 3087  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Glockner group in East Tyrol . It was first climbed in 1857 by JA Specht, A. Wachtler with Chr. Ranggetiner by crossing the Blaukopf ridge lengthways to the Adlersruhe .

The Lange Wand is located in the south of the Glockner Group in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park . It is located in the northeast of the municipality of Kals am Großglockner near the border with Carinthia . The Long Wall is a mountain range at the outlet of the Blaukopfgrat, which runs from the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte in the north over the Blauen Köpfe ( 3,061  m above sea level ) to the south. The long wall is separated from the Blue Heads by the Kristallenscharte ( 2973  m above sea level ). In the south, the Pfortscharte ( 2828  m above sea level ) marks the transition to Glatzschneid ( 2910  m above sea level ). In addition to the main or north summit, the Lange Wand also has a south summit ( 3,027  m above sea level ) and a south-west summit ( 2969  m above sea level ). Near the Lange Wand, next to the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte in the north, there are the Stüdlhütte in the west, the Salmhütte in the east and the Glorer Hütte in the south. On the east side, the Johann-Stüdl-Weg leads past the Long Wall. The closest valley is the valley of the Ködnitzbach to the southeast .

Promotion opportunities

The normal route on the Lange Wand leads from one of the surrounding huts to the Pfortscharte. From here the ascent on the south ridge ( II ) takes place.
