Langeloh ( Low German / Plattdüütsch Langloh ) is a district of the town of Schneverdingen in the Heidekreis district in Lower Saxony .

geography

The place is about five kilometers south of the city center and is connected to it via the K 26 and K 33. It is characterized by fields and moorland with peasant forests and borders on the Pietzmoor .

Living spaces of Langeloh are Freyersen / Fraas , pistil, Hemsen / Hämsen , Langeloh / Langloh , Reimer things / Reimen , Vorwerk / Vorwark , Wieckhorst / Wieck host and Dannhorst / Dannhost (area of Wieckhorst).

history

In the village of Langeloh the last knight battle in Europe took place on June 28, 1519 as part of the Hildesheim collegiate feud ( Battle of Soltau ). The Hildesheimers defeated the Braunschweig-Welfischen troops.

The old community bears the name Langeloh because the district Langeloh used to be the largest of the seven districts due to the structure of the farm and its inhabitants (today is Hemsen, followed by Wieckhorst).

On March 1, 1974, Langeloh was incorporated into the municipality of Schneverdingen.

Culture and sights

At Langeloh there is a burial mound field (nature reserve hill graves heath near Langeloh ). The Böhmetal nature reserve near Huckenrieth is partly in Langeloh, as is the Birkensee (nature reserve) .
