The long-stemmed Triteleie ( Triteleia peduncularis ) is a species of the genus Triteleia in the subfamily of the Brodiaeoideae .
features
The long-stemmed Triteleie is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 40 (80) centimeters. This geophyte forms onions as persistent organs.
The flower stalk has a length of 2 to 10 (rarely up to 18) centimeters. The inflorescence is 15 to 28 millimeters long. The perigon tube has a size of 7 to 11 millimeters. The ovary is bright yellow and as long as its stem.
The flowering period extends from June to July.
Occurrence
The long-stemmed Triteleie occurs in western North America in north-western California in spring-moist grasslands and pools as well as in pine and hardwood forests at altitudes from 0 to 800 meters. This species is often found on serpentine .
use
The long-stemmed Triteleie is rarely used as an ornamental plant in rock gardens, steppe beds and as a cut flower. It has been in culture since around 1830. The hybrid Triteleia × tubergenii L. W. Lenz from Blue Triteleie ( Triteleia laxa ) and Long-stemmed Triteleie ( Triteleia peduncularis ) has lavender-colored flowers.
