Lapikus

Lapikus is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the Czech Republic . The remains of the castle are two kilometers northwest of Plaveč in the Okres Znojmo .

geography

The ruin is located on the right side of the Plenkovický creek on a wooded rock spur above a creek bend in the Jevišovická pahorkatina ( Jaispitzer hill country ). The surrounding area is protected as a natural monument of Lapikus.

Surrounding villages are Šmidlův Mlýn in the north, Rudlice in the northeast, Němčičky and Culpovec in the east, Plaveč in the southeast, Únanov in the south, Hluboké Mašůvky in the southwest, Bábovec in the west and Bojanovice in the northwest.

history

Hrádek Castle was probably built at the end of the 14th century. In 1381 it was mentioned as the seat of Boček of Plaveč; he was followed by his brother Mikeš. After both brothers died without male descendants, Johann Weitmühler von Žerotice bought the castle at the beginning of the 15th century. When Gebl and Stephan von Hrušovany filed a complaint against Johann Weitmühler at the regional court in 1411 for illegal possession of the castle and associated goods, it was first mentioned under the name Lapikus .

The castle was probably destroyed in the second half of the 15th century during the Bohemian-Hungarian War and then abandoned. As Wenceslas Weitmühler of Zerotitz 1508 its half of festivals Zerotitz the Johann Weitmühler of Zerotitz landtäflig assured, was the associated Castle Lapikus than waste referred. In 1511 Johann Weitmühler ceded the property to Heinrich Lechvický von Zástřizl . The last documentary mention of the desert castle was in 1620 in the Jaispitzer Urbar.

The castle was built on a rocky spur surrounded by Plenkovický potok in the west and north.

The foundation walls of the mantle wall and the wall torso of a tower and a building on the north side have been preserved. The castle grounds with ruins of the tower and the Palas covered. The ruin has been protected as a cultural monument since 1973 .
