history
The first written mention of Lappach goes back to the year 1225. On the occasion of a donation in favor of the Brixen bishop Heinrich von Taufers “ tria armenta apud Cesem ” are mentioned, whereby Cesem can be identified with the high valley Zösen . The name "Lappach" appears in 1296 in the land register of the Sonnenburg monastery as " Levpach " and as " Laupach ", part of the Mühlwald office. As early as the middle of the 12th century, however, a court in Zösen ( "curtis in Zesenne" ) is mentioned in a record of the Brixen cathedral chapter , which was assigned to it for the purpose of celebrating an anniversary.
In 1840 the 458 inhabitants were distributed over 52 houses. In 1872 a school was established. Until 1926 Lappach was an independent municipality, since then it has been a fraction of Mühlwald.
The construction of the Neves reservoir at the head of the valley between 1960 and 1964 was a major turning point in the mountain village's environment . There have been tourist facilities since the 1970s. A large part of the population makes a living commuting outside of the valley.
