Laricoideae is a subfamily of the pine family (Pinaceae). It is assigned to three types. Representatives of this subfamily can be found in the northern hemisphere.
description
The species from the subfamily Laricoideae grow as evergreen or deciduous trees . The leaves are needle-like.
All representatives are single-sexed ( monoecious ). The seed cones do not have an umbo and the cone scales have a broad base. The whitish seeds have attached wings. Furthermore, there are no resin bubbles on the seeds.
Systematics
The subfamily Laricoideae was established by Robert Knud Friedrich Pilger and Hans Melchior .
There are three recent genera in the subfamily Laricoideae, one of which is monotypical , i.e. consists of only one species.

- Larchs ( Larix ) are the type genus for this subfamily.
